The Repository is the written record behind ten documentary channels. Every episode published on YouTube has a page here carrying its full transcript, its chapters, and the archive each image and each clip came from.

Why the pages exist

A video is a bad place to keep a citation. A source shown on screen for four seconds cannot be copied, searched, or checked later, and a description field runs out of room after five thousand characters. So the evidence that the episodes are built from — the plate, the dive, the survey drawing, the archive reference and its licence — ends up compressed into a credit line nobody can act on.

These pages are the other half of that work. Nothing here is written for the site: the transcript is the narration as it was recorded, the chapters are the ones on the video, and the source list is generated from the same provenance manifest that produces the credit burned into each frame. If a page and a video ever disagree, the manifest is what both were made from.

How the channels are made

Ten channels, three of them in Portuguese and seven in English, each with its own subject and its own visual register. What they share is a rule rather than a look: a number on screen carries the source it came from, and material from an archive is credited where it appears, with author, date, holding institution and licence.

Archive footage and images are public domain, or Creative Commons Attribution where the licence allows commercial use. Illustrations that no archive covers are generated and labelled as synthetic — they are used for moments where no photograph exists, never to reconstruct an identifiable person or to stand in for evidence.

Corrections

If something here is wrong — a date, a citation, an attribution — write and say so, and point at the page. Corrections are made to the source the page is generated from, so they reach the video, the transcript and the credit at the same time.
